Margarita Review #1
As an avid fan of these frozen concoctions, it's only right that I review the margaritas I discover in this city, especially since I was told I would be hard-pressed to find my beloved Texas-style margs.
#1: El Tejano Tex-Mex
I stumbled across this gem of a bar in North Hollywood thanks to my dear friend, Ashley (pictured above). After not knowing where to go for my beloved afternoon of "patio sitting", she said "Let's give El Tejano a shot." We were able to park the car and walk over, to immediately find my kind of a place. Huge outdoor area, complete with cornhole and televisions, heaters and picnic tables, I knew I was in for a good time.
We secured spots at the bar and were promptly told that it's "Happy hour all the time" and that that happy hour is two for the price of one, plus two dollars. I'm not entirely sure what that meant, but it didn't matter because they told me there was a Texas sized margarita for the same price. Obviously I had to do my roots proud and get that Texas sized goblet of happiness, plus I knew you were dying to read my review of it. And of course, the second they told me they had a frozen margarita machine (aka NOT just ice thrown into a blender) I slapped my card down with a purpose.
They brought out my beer-rita and I was apprehensive. I had already committed to living out here, but what if Cali-ritas really were that bad? Would I waste away, unable to leave my room because I had taken my last Southern margarita for granted? Fear not, dear reader, I quickly lost my nerves and dove in. It was...
Delicious.
As the signs around the bar proudly stated, it was inspired by Texas and I must admit, they got my beloved frozen margarita right. To top it all off, they also offer complimentary chips and salsa. It was at that moment that I knew, even if all other margaritas yielded a different result, I'd be ok in this new state.
